Vote NO on everything. From naming post offices to pissing more money down the gaping maw of the Pentagon, just vote NO. Make MAGA Mike do his job and round up the votes in his own caucus. In the Senate, everything requires 60 votes. No unanimous consent for anything, not even a bathroom break. Make them try and jam all of their bullshit into reconciliation bills, then demand the parliamentarian rule on every single one of their unpopular hate filled bills. Force Trump to use EOs to get his hate filled agenda enacted, then run immediately to Biden or Obama appointed judges in blue states to stop him. Oh, and while they're at it, start suing Musk, Vivek, and every one of these MAGA shitbirds for defamation. In other words, act like Republicans, not scared spineless Democrats.
Dems should hire comedy writers from Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert to write attacks on the Repub creeps. Attack is important. But getting people to laugh at those performative blowhards opens the mind and lets the attacks sink in.
Agree - there's plenty of people to hire - so why haven't they? I heard once that they've been playing defense since Reagan 'rolled them' back in th 80's... trouble is those same players are still in control - and though experienced & talented, they likely have reactions INGRAINED sadly... (and when they do get a fighter, they don't seem to last long).
D's seem very corporate in demeanor (post Citizens United). Not a true oppo party.
In fairness, Rs ‘fight’ against imaginary bogeymen they created (but it activates ppl), their base will vote against their own interests AND they are NOT required to craft ANY actual policy. This gives them plenty of time & energy for dramatic ‘culture’ issues. They just re-elected a candidate who pledged to destroy the ACA 9 years ago - with NO current plan ready to replace… I mean come onnnn
Republicans are better are fashioning a narrative and forcing medía to pay attention to the point of validation. “Biden is too old” and the press coughed up dozens of “Biden is to old” pieces. “Medical care for trans people is disgusting” and the media jumps on the trans wagon. Worse, Democrats add to the narrative, as if any idea deserves attention, no matter how wrong. Now it’s the good old “Government is too damn big” and media and Dems are volunteering to pore over the federal budget to find programs to cut. Fox is a major reason this narrative works because all parties treat it as a legitimate news source instead of a Republican propaganda machine. The movement to make cable companies move Fox to pay-for-option would have been great but I never heard Dems pushing it.
If they want to cut the budget there's really only one place to look, the military industrial complex. But of course they have already said that's off limits.
If Trump already found a way to insult servicemen and the military, maybe there is a way to at least start the serious criticism that'd lead to budget reductions here. Maybe Trump already is with the talks of Ukraine funding/armament reductions. But Dems are too afraid to jump into this and expand this opportunity.
We’re a large diverse group—meaning, each sect of blue clings to slightly different things.
I’d like to see all of us unite and stick together on the common areas and quit nitpicking the differences. Be a blue unit. Weirdly, that’s how Republicans beat us—they work out their differences after.
One thing Democrats need to recognize is that the literacy gap between the right and left is real. Republicans report that Harris had no policies, because finding out about them would have required those folk to actually read her web site. Oral presentation of proposed policies, as well as criticizing the right’s ideas, needs to be vastly increased to reach that huge part of the population.
You know, FDR used to talk privately to people/politicos - and agree with them… but then he would say at the end of the meeting “OK, now you have to MAKE ME DO IT…” (meaning: THEY had to get out there & make enough noise / bring public pressure so it appeared he had ‘no choice’ but to take action). This let him off the hook, in so many ways… amirite
So California JUST finished counting votes like yesterday? Almost a FULL MONTH later, because it's THAT important. Yet go back to Bush v Gore (the fork in the road) - wasn't the counting stopped by SCOTUS because the 'country would fall apart' if we didn't know within 3-4 days? WTH. With a difference of what - 542 votes when they shut it down? Then 2016 - the word the msm came up with was 'meddling'...yeah that sounded a bit more 'harmless'. NOW they easily shame ppl asking for a recount - even of 'just the swing states, please'? And I mean even DEMS don't want it! Unreal. Pundits saying 'don't do this'. What - b-tch about an unusual election that will practically end us? And while they stall the issue the clock is running out for certification. No one wants to be the bad guy? I would think Rs owe us one for 2000, right guys?
*crickets*...and Schumer already talking about (wait for it)... 'bipartisanship' - GOOD L-RD
I was about to reply that I don't have any of those, then I remembered that I have moved from Texas to New Mexico! Goes to search for email addresses...
The progressive/liberal/leftist news aggregator that you created at breakingnewsusa.com is great. Thanks! Only please add TFN (The Fucking News) and The Jonathan Larsen Substack. Thank you!!!! 🙏🏼
I agree that Democrats don't fight back hard enough. It would’ve been really nice if, back in 2016, those who supported Hillary Clinton would have been willing to come over to Bernie. But, they wouldn't and she said that she didn't need our votes. (For the record, I do believe that Bernie would have been a formidable president). Without ending electricity, the best option to get into Rs minds would be turning off the TV.

Love the idea, top to bottom.
Ah, the Mitch McConnell strategy.
The fact that Rs have a literal puppy murdering psychopath who will soon be some sort of cabinet official soon 🫠

Oliver - Agree with your approach to fight back.
At DemLabs we try and connect current headlines to the deeper political issue.

Corporate Greed is hazardous to your health: Follow the money!
How do health insurance CEOs make millions while rejecting more claims from patients? How do health insurance firms that reject the most claims also tend to pay their CEOs the most? Spend the most on lobbying for more healthcare cutbacks and tax cuts for the wealthy?https://thedemlabs.org/2024/12/05/corporate-greed-is-hazardous-to-your-health-follow-the-money/
