Brilliant take on the reality of the world today. I am turning 74 this year and can't believe I lived all these years not seeing the insanity around me that has truly blossomed since 2016.

Yup.

Let's broaden this a bit to the self-described 'Leftists', who are eternally at a loss to reconcile their abiding conviction that educating White Working Class (WWC) voters about their 'true' interests, educating the masses produce a socialist uprising, only to be met with the cold reality of the WWC aligning themselves overwhelmingly with fascism, decade after decade.

It's a mystery!

Or, the WWC isn't buying what 'The Left' are selling, because the WWC sees its true interests in racism, misogyny and homophobia. Like, they vote for fascists because, it turns out, they are fascists.

In my life I have learned that whatever you focus your attention, emotion and energy on is what you draw into your experience. Imagine if everyone focused on what makes us feel good; love, nature and connection. Keep your direction focused on what you want and what it feels like to have it and you will create it.

In these turbulent times with all the evil lizzards at the top in the White House and their fellow lunatics around the globe, the crises, the wars, the starvation, the global challenges and on top of all that : The big climate change denials among people on earth. I take a deep breath, sit down and pray my serenity prayer:

"God, grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change,

Courage to change the

things I can, and the

wisdom to know the difference."

After that I feel a bit of joy.

Some of this is age. I gave up on people a long time ago. Most are fine individually but are easily led. Put them in a tribe and they will turn into the approximation of a mob at the drop of a hat.

Trump 1.0 was run largely by McConnell & the big GOP donor base but 2.0 is way more a creation of the techno fascists.

I long ago came to the conclusion that trying to reason with MAGA types makes trying to teach a pig to sing seem like a worthwhile endeavor.

“The reality is most adults will need something very bad to happen to them or a loved one to change their minds.”

This is sadly too true. There are so many examples of Republicans only caring about an issue because it directly impacts them. They have no empathy.

Agree completely, but a much better comparison is The Culture book series.

A Star Trek universe. Hmm. Before you can have a Star Trek Universe you have to have a thermonuclear war that destroys 95%+ of humanity. A small commune in Montana (Wyoming?) happens to have a drunken rocket scientist with access to a missile silo with a missile in it and a neat idea for bending space/time. You can fill in the blank spaces from here, but the most important spaces to fill in FOR US is we are in the time before the thermonuclear war.

We don't need to have one but we're walking right into the goddam thing aren't we? Why have the genius Khan Noonian Singh when you can have a moronic orange blabbermouth jackwad instead who'll serve the same purpose?

Well. Let us get on with it then.
