This photo of Kal-El reminds me of a similar photo of someone regal and majestic:

At this point, the extreme right wing of the party has no choice but to continue with their version of reality. As their claims become more outrageous, they set themselves up for looking like the hallowed out party of fools they are.

DOJ won’t prosecute Merrick Garland for refusing to hand over Biden’s classified docs audio

Ask yourself why the Republicans want the audio when they already have a full transcript?

Recognize that the Hur’s report which was to comment on matters of *law* went way beyond its remit to deliberately include unsupported *medical* conclusions about Biden’s mental state.

Given what they did with Hur’s biased report it’s clear all the Republican noise about needing the actual recordings (when, again, they have the transcripts so won’t get any additional info from the recordings) is just so they can again distort what they contain to attack a political opponent.

Ask yourself if it’s proper for the DOJ to become a party to a political attack.

The transcripts were altered. Secondly we have a right to know that the President ‘s faculties are intact

What makes you say they were altered? Got evidence?

Also, you've avoided replying to the questions asked (Why is that?) so I’ll ask a new one: Since the mental competence of candidates for president *is* important, how concerned are you about Trump‘s increasingly obvious mental decline?

Uh because the transcripts are redacted so by nature, it means there is something unseen. Also, the DOJ admitted there were omissions but "just trust us'.

What did the Biden Junta promise you if they are re-elected?

Still running from my questions, I see. Why do they scare you so much?

Unlike you, I'm not embarrassed by the candidate I support so have no problem answering yours. What did Biden promise me if he gets re-elected? Gosh, where to begin.

- The right to make my own medical decisions instead of having them dictated by reactionary politicians.

- The benefit of continuing to live in an economy that, under his leadership, has been outperforming the entire world.

- A government that respects the rule of law and protects our democracy.

- Lower drug prices.

- Expanded opportunities for wage earners and a fairer tax plan.

- That he won't become a dictator Not on day one or ever.

That's half a dozen. I could go on but don't want to strain you by having you count higher than six.

Your guy, of course, promises my (AND you, by the way) exactly the opposite of all of those.

- Bigger government to interfere in personal liberty.

- An economy with damaging tariffs, rampant inflation, increased unemployment, and suppressed wages.

- An administration rampant with complete disregard for law and hellbent on destroying American democracy.

- Higher prices for just about everything.

- Repeal of employee protections to further enrich those who already have vastly more than they could ever spend.

- Purging of the civil service, personal loyalty oaths, imprisonment of thousands without trial.

Their immaturity and arrogance won’t let them back off from their nonsense.

1) The party is too far gone. Their only strategy is angering voters to try to get a few more likes, dollars, attention, etc. They don’t have any other play left in the book.

2) The few times any of them have tried to back down, they are alienated by their co-members, voters and rightwing media - careers tanked due small efforts of showing sanity. This has pushed the few remaining principled people to leave the party.

3) The “leaders” & current candidates are inept & inexperienced extremist with no desire to actually govern. They want attention and power. They want to be in trumps bubble for griftability & a possible chance of being in his good graces should he win.

Bottom line is they can’t accept reality because they’d have to acknowledge being gullible, stupid and that they’d been lied to. That just won’t do for egos like theirs.

Trumps long association with WWE embedded him in the world of kayfabe; which combined with the slick production of the fake reality that was "The Apprentice" was the cornerstone of his 2016 capaign that simply shattered all norms for the Republican party (and in many ways, American politics)

The thing is, in the world of pro wrestling everyone from the wrestlers in the ring to the fans in the nosebleed seats acknowledge that it's all a consciously shared fiction, kind of a role-playing game writ large.

Now the Republican Party is lashed to that rpg as actual reality, so we end up with 'Biden the perfidious heel who always cheats' as their only strategy, but this doesn't resonate with people not invested in the delusion...

Thanks Oliver, I enjoyed your column this morning. My thoughts immediately go to HRC being "deathly" ill when she ran her campaign. I was horrified at the press and at the R party for going after her like that. It was clear the press and the R party decided to go after HRC for emails too. I have given up on most of my Republican friends b/c they don't seem to be able to think for themselves and just wait for Fox and R's in Congress to tell them what to think. Also, cute puppy!

1. His Majesty Kal-El is a surprisingly a Slapstick King, something that's needed in every leader.

2. This is what the R Party sees as weakness. They totally lack self-awareness, the ability to laugh at themselves, and the courage to admit that they are, in fact, clowns.
