Trump’s campaign is struggling hard to find a catchy fresh slogan against Kamala and Tim. They don’t know what to do so they are throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. They’ve resorted to rehashing old Biden ads using Kamala’s name as if she’s the president and blaming everything on her. That falls under weird in terms of tactic; also falls under ineffective and cheap.

They don’t have a fresh new slogan for their own campaign either. I mean, how many times can you say keep America great or make America great again (one suggest it’s already fine and the other saying it needs to be fixed again). All the methods they are using are falling short.

They thought Walz would be a downer, but the day after he was selected, $36 million was raised (in a day) from 450K donors, most of whom were new, first time donors.

So now the MAGA campaign is floundering & wallowing in old, tired, slogans seeking an angle and finding none. So they’re doubling down on the things that are turning people off -infantile name-calling, attacking with weak racists & misogynist slurs, lying about Project 2025, and trying to manage damage control from godawful JD Vance, who thinks women shouldn’t vote unless they’re mothers.

Let’s beat the shit out of them at the polls.

I think we the Dems have finally shed our long habit of the defensive cringe when hit with Republican assertions we're somehow communist monsters. Calling them weird and the couch fornicator gets all the tone police furious with us, but it's also working...it hits their fascist mindset right in it's most vulnerable place: their complete inability to laugh at themselves.

I came up with (what I think, at least) a really great analogy for them : they're all like Prince Rupert's Drops https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Rupert's_drop . When we hit them with accusations of being authoritarians, a danger to democracy, etc, they take that up as affirmation: They're bold, tough, strong men fighting the degenerate left, and we crouch whenever they lift thir hands to slap us.

That's hammering on the head of the Drop.

But when we call them weird and creepy, laugh at them and make juvenile jokes about 'Can he get off the couch and debate us' that making the tiniest crack in the tail of the drop The most vulnerable part of their entire gestalt

Fascists cannot ever abide being laughed at.

They're pushed back on their heels because they cannot defend against this line of attack; their egos cannot tolerate people laughing at them.

Vance could have killed the entire virality of the couch tween by standing up, adopting a Bill Clinton accent and saying "I did not have sectional intercourse with that couch" and laughed at himself. Boom.

It has no power.

But their utter narcissism and rigidly authoritarian mindset cannot abide what they see as weakness, the abillity to laugh at themselves. Vance was forced to make a truly lame (and staggeringly obscure) joke about Mountain Dew 'being racist' as 'humor'.

Meanwhille Kamala and Tim are on teevee clearly having a great time together, laughing, smilling, cracking jokes and being unforgivably relaxed and happy, by the standards of the GOP.

We're all supposed to be 'miserable cat ladies' and 'humorless leftist scolds' that want to make everyone else miserable with us, and it really feels like more and more people are believing their lying eyes over the GOP's gaslighting.

Reading the Triad is essential today. While we enjoy the uptick and elation of the moment, Nov voting changes in GA , and thr many election deniers who have and will lie to keep their jobs.

Remember we have currently a speaker of house and many electors in play at the Repub level who will lie to keep their man in.

When I break all this down it’s scary a lie doesn’t make the truth less

Apparent. It makes it MORE OBVIOUS.

But with everyone believing that a lie is thr truth. DT seems to have that narcissistic quality we all have when we’re wrong we don’t want to admit it.

The DIFFERENCE IS: we try and see the truth, or do we?

My only worry is that Rachel Maddow is onto something and the GQP’s real election strategy isn’t to win the election, but to screw with it until it can be thrown to Trump somehow. I don’t see Trump winning the vote at this point. As you say, things can change and change rapidly, and we should always fight like we’re 10 points behind, but barring something like it being revealed that Walz and/or Harris is secretly a Wendigo who feeds on human flesh every month, Trump and Vance don’t feel like they have any appeal beyond their cult.
