Powerful and so true. One tiny correction - Scott Walker is Wisconsin’s problem, not my Minnesota’s problem.
It’s amazing how much farther right the Republicans are lurching every election since 2008. I really hope we can do it in 2024 and really start fixing the problems. Fucking Kyrsten Sinema and the fucking filibuster.
Underestimating kids is a big problem in our society. When I was in elementary school my mom received a call from the principal complaining that I was "scaring the other children" by telling them at hiding under a desk would not save them from nuclear annihilation! It was at that moment I pretty much stopped trusting a lot of adults!
As always, GOP attacks are projection and deflection. Interviews with former Republicans revealed that overwhelmingly, political identity was formed in high school. Often, as teens, they participated in political campaigns. (Projection)
I read yesterday that another MAGA acolyte, Ali Alexander, had to apologize for soliciting nude photos from teen boys. (Deflection)
I hope to see more GenZers run for office, but in the meantime, the larger they become as a voting block, the more power they'll have to push rational policies already supported by a majority of the country.
Eventually, it will come down to Court reform and getting money out of politics. The incentive structure has to change.
The GOP in some ways think their old playbooks will work forever, the same way it worked in the 80's and 90's.
They unfortunately aren't completely wrong, however they forget that with further acceptance and normalization of LGBTQ in society over the last 2-3 decades, they don't have the same scare factor they did when gay culture was more isolated from mainstream.
Nowadays, kids grow up around very open gay and lesbian couples, teachers, councilors, siblings and other family.
The reality is that we are just as boring and dumpy as everyone else.
So when the GOP attacks now, it's not some foreign boogeyman, it's uncle Carl, or the couple who do music at the Synagogue, or for my kids, I'm one of two Moms. And a trans mom to boot.
So when these kids hear about drag bans that could result in their parents being put in jail simply for being on a stage, that's personal to them. School shootings are some cautionary tale about two outcasts in Colorado. Its something they do monthly drills for at school. So gun laws are something that concern them personally, whereas years ago they could detach from it as being "an isolated incident that happened far away from us."
Lifetime far-left liberal here wondering where you found the evidence of safe and effective vaccines stopping this “pandemic”. All we had was a pandemic of mass, non-verifiable testing for RNA transcripts never shown to cause disease and a reclassification of deaths and other illnesses used to blame for expected “historic increase in deaths” in coming years predicted in this 2017 census.gov article. Coincidence or smoking gun? https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2017/10/aging-boomers-deaths.html
"pop culture icons like Cardi B who are imparting life lessons about wet genitals..."
I seem to recall the right-wing anti-freedom movement treated Cardi B as a hero a couple of years ago because of something or other she said about abortion (that they misinterpretted and misused). Guess that didn't last long.

I hope you feel better!!
Thanks, and fixed
Please don’t blame Minnesota for the union busting right-wing self-diddling automaton Lil’ Scotty Wanker. That’s Wisconsin’s fault.
Doh! Fixed

Agree wholeheartedly.

They aren't dumb, these kids.
Ugh typo. "School shootings are NOT some cautionary tale..."
I’d add climate change / global warming / greenhouse gas addiction to the list as well
Well said as always. Typo alert though: "transgender abusers" ?

Excellent assessment, across-the-board. I can’t find a thing to disagree with or add, so thank you!
Also, towards the end, "They built up a world that has rewarded the most," most what? Hope you don't mind my nit picking!
not a problem, all fixed
