Politicians who pose with children carrying AR-15s have internalized the belief that this type of performative “self-sufficient warrior” identity IS what appeals to their voters, who ARE the American people (at least a significant portion of Americans, who also entertain this view of themselves). They aim to present as strong individuals, banded together to protect home and hearth from horrifying hordes of invaders. And who are the invaders? LGBTQ folks and their allies, Black & brown people. Not to mention Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders rolling back child labor laws. Which of course will just be the start. These people really are despicable.

This ball of confusion (and let's not omit the Biden policy of excluding immigrants, letting them suffer and, now, die horribly at the border), benefits weapons manufacturers, etc. and preys upon minority, transgender and gay communities.
The GOP does not support parents because they offer thoughtless prayers to grieving parents while claiming they support parents rights.
