“But Durbin and company have publicly rejected even holding a hearing about the court crisis.”
Durbin is useless. A coward, terrified of being Chair of his committee because it means he’s actually supposed to do something. WORSE than useless because he’s actively working to keep the corrupt Court in place.
Well said. I think the term “unpacking the court” is more to the point. Expand the court sounds like a power grab by progressives when in fact, the power grab was on the other side. The number of justices would not really need to be changed if McConnell had not packed the court with two ultra conservative justices by bending the normal rules of appointment to favor his right wing masters. Using the term and hashtag #UnpackSCOTUS calls attention to the questionable maneuvers that were used by the right to create the situation that exists now and conveys the need to reverse the packing of the court in order to reestablish affair and balanced Supreme Court.
Technicality 13 circuits require at least 1 justice per circuit. This would dramatically cut down on the case loads the justices have. It's just the logical and practical thing to do. However, Biden is against it.
My favorite Kal-El photo to date. Your facial expression is the epitome of dog love. Those kisses are so grand, but they do trigger some faces. As always, thanks for your meaningful pieces AND Kal-El closures.
Less than blistering commentary by Durbin today: "the highest court needs an enforceable code of conduct, because its members continue to choose not to meet the moment."
Highest court members hide bribes and the Democratic Senator from Illinois says they choose not to meet the moment. His team needs a crash course at the Willis school of direct language.
Dick Durbin is utterly spineless. SCOTUS will absolutely throw the upcoming election to Trump if they can find plausible deniability which they couldn't in 2020. In 2000 it was "hanging chad's". The GOP are filing law suits, 19 that I'm aware of, right now questioning mail in ballots, election procedures, and trying to gain access to voter rolls. In other words, they're working on giving SCOTUS plausible deniability.

Wow! What a fantastic spitfire column today about the Supreme Court! I think one of your best!

Impeaching someone when you know there aren't enough votes to convict and remove is little more than political theater.
No shit, what do you think most of politics is?
